Below are some tips to make your first Modo Yoga experience as amazing as possible!
Any Modo 60 minute class will be a perfect place to start, regardless of your yoga experience. We recommend all new visitors to start with our $40 Introductory Month.
What to bring: check out this recommended list of what you’ll need.
Minimum Age Requirement: our studio policy is a minimum of 16 years old to practice in the hot room (sorry, no exceptions). Students 16-17 years old will require parental consent, which can be sent by email, or a parent/guardian can attend class with minor.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day prior to practice, as this will have a huge effect on how you feel during class. Bring a reusable bottle with you and feel free to have frequent sips of water throughout class – listen to your body, it knows best. Forget your water bottle? We sell Modo sticker mason jars for $3 at the front desk.
We recommend a light snack prior to when you practice, and avoid eating a substantial meal for up to 2-3 hours before class starts.
We encourage you to pre-register online, as many of our classes fill up quickly. If it’s your very first visit to our studio, please fill out our online new student waiver. Learn more about our class registration etiquette here.
Go at your own pace, no expectations. The best way to make progress in yoga is to start where you are. Try your best without having expectations. It’s ok to modify postures for your comfort level and to take frequent breaks. Your body is different every day, and from everyone in the room. Our goal is that you enjoy a safe and sweaty hot yoga experience, and you can help ensure this happens by listening to your body.
Have Fun! Don’t take the practice, or yourself, too seriously. The goal is to leave the practice feeling better than before class started. Listen to your body, take breaks, modify as you need, hydrate throughout class, and be open to learn something new each time you practice.
