Studio Etiquette

We believe in the power of community and we ask that you respect these guidelines to preserve an environment of cleanliness, peace and positivity for all.

CHECK IN AT THE FRONT DESK

Even if you’ve signed up for a class online, please say hi and check in at the front desk as soon as you arrive (before you head back to the change rooms).

ARRIVE EARLY

Pre-registered online? We’ll save your spot for up to 10 minutes before class starts. After that, we give it to the next yogi.

LATECOMERS NOT PERMITTED

To respect everyone’s time and to properly warm up and take in all instructions, all of our classes begin and end on time. You’re still great if you’re late, but you won’t be permitted to attend class after the teacher has entered the practice room, or after the door is locked up to 3 minutes prior to class start time. No exceptions.

LEAVE YOUR SHOES IN THE FRONT LOBBY

Help preserve our shared space and keep the studio a shoe-free zone. Leave all shoes, boots, roller skates – whichever – in the shoe cubbies located in the front lobby. To avoid post yoga boot mix-up’s, put your socks in your boots as you take them off at the front lobby. Ideal tip for popular footwear like Blundstones, Uggs, Hunters, and Sorels.

STORE YOUR BELONGINGS

Please leave all personal belongings and items, including all bags, in the change room in the cubbies provided. We do not have locks on the cubbies, so only bring the basic items that you need for class: yoga mat, towel(s), drinking water, and change of clothes. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. If there is something of value that you would like us to lock and store in the office for you during class, just ask us when you arrive.

CELL PHONE FREE ZONE

As you arrive to the studio, please put your cell phone and wearable technology (Apple watches, Fitbits, etc.) on airplane mode, and kindly respect our no cell phones policy in the practice rooms. Truly take a break from technology upon entering the studio, and please refrain from using devices in the change rooms.

SILENCE IN THE PRACTICE ROOM

One of our six Modo Pillars is Be Peace – let’s work together in community to keep the hot room a quiet, peaceful place for all to enjoy. Feel free to chat in the front lobby or quietly in the hallway outside the practice rooms. Please maintain silence in the practice room (psst, whispering is not silent).

GO SCENT-FREE

Aside from the occasional smudge or incense, we respect our shared environment by going scent-free (OK, deodorant also accepted) as many are allergic or scents can trigger migraines. No perfumes, sprays or heavily scented soaps in the studio, please.

WE WELCOME ALL

We recognize and respect all races, religions, genders, abilities, sexual orientations and countries of origin. We stand with you. You are safe here. This is a place for all.

CREATE EQUAL SPACING

Be mindful of how you place your mat down in the practice room so that there is space for everyone. For all Modo classes (Mod0, Modo Flow, Modo Level 2), the hot practice room has space four equal horizontal rows from the back of the room (cedar wall) to the front (mirrors). For reduced heated classes (Yin, Yang + Ying, and Bliss Flow) set up your mat parallel to the mirrors, and we split the room in half vertically so both sides face to the middle pillars of the room.

STAY UNTIL YOU HEAR NAMASTÉ

For health, safety and security reasons, and to maintain a peaceful experience for all, we kindly ask all students to stay in the practice room until you hear Namasté (‘nah-muh-stay’).

RETURN YOUR RENTALS

Don’t forget to return towel rentals to the hampers, rented mats can stay on the floor and we’ll take care of them for you. If you purchased a Modo Mason Jar, it’s yours to keep!
